Intimate Backyard Wedding with Samantha and Evan | Milford, MI

Backyard wedding collage

I was so honored and excited to shoot this intimate backyard wedding for Samantha and Evan! Their ceremony was originally scheduled for May, with the big ceremony/reception to follow in the Dominican Republic in December. But due to Covid-19, they had to reschedule the ceremony portion to July 18th. My heart aches for the couples who have had to make drastic changes to their wedding plans in response to the current crisis. However, Sam and Evan didn’t let a little rescheduling get them down. In fact, they seemed to take it in stride, and it resulted in the most beautiful, intimate backyard wedding ever!

Sam and Evan were engaged in April of 2019, he proposed on a hike in Sedona, AZ. She actually thought that he was joking because he happened to propose on April Fools Day! But it was NOT a joke, in fact, Evan had no idea it was April Fools Day!

On the day of their ceremony, I pulled up to the venue – her mom’s gorgeous home and backyard. I was blown away by the beauty of their setting, there were towering trees, lush ferns, adorable and quaint chicken coops, and gorgeous gardens all around. Sam had put so much thought into the details. There were rustic centerpieces on the tables surrounded by wooden heart confetti, and a pretty altar ready to go!

With their closest family and friends by their sides, Sam and Evan “tied the knot”. Their ceremony was officiated by Evan’s sister Brenna, and her husband John. Together, Brenna and John gave a beautiful sermon and had the couple exchange their vows. It was so touching. When that was finished, Sam and Evan walked back down the aisle, but this time as husband and wife, while their guests threw rice at them. It made for some epic exit photos! Sam and Evan, I wish you both happiness and love for all the years to come! Congratulations!!!
